ひとりの英語学習者として、語源と結びつけた英単語学習を早い段階で教わりたかったな、と思ったことがこのブログを始めたきっかけです。
As an English learner myself, the inspiration for this blog came from a personal realization: I truly wish I had been taught vocabulary by connecting it to etymology (word origins) much earlier in my studies.

以前、英検1級の一次筆記試験であと数点で不合格となったくやしさから、2017年中に英検一級取得することを目指しました。（※2018年6月にようやく一次試験合格… そんなに甘くなかった）
I was once deeply frustrated after failing the Eiken Grade 1 (first stage) exam by just a few points. That frustration drove me to set a goal of passing it within 2017. (*I finally passed the first stage in June 2018… It certainly wasn’t that easy.)

しょせん資格なんですが、日々の学習モチベーション継続のためにはよかったです。
While I know it’s just a certification, I find it’s an excellent tool for maintaining daily study motivation.

動画編集の Adobe Aftereffects と Premiere Pro などを学ぶため海外のチュートリアル動画視聴の際に「英語を勉強していてよかった」と思っています。
When I started watching overseas tutorials to learn Adobe AfterEffects and Premiere Pro etc, I truly felt, “I’m so glad I learned English.”

英語版のノンフィクションやフィクションを生真面目に読んだり読まなかったり、読まなかったり読んだり。
Sometimes seriously reading English non-fiction and fiction, sometimes not…

英検一級につきましては、一次試験合格後、一次試験免除の猶予期間制度をフル活用して（二次試験の面接三回連続不合格！）、四回目の挑戦（2019年）でなんとか合格しました。
As for the Eiken Grade 1, after passing the first (writing test) stage, I used the exemption period for the second (interview) stage to its absolute fullest. Why? Because I failed the interview three times in a row! I finally managed to pass on my fourth attempt in 2019.

英検一級の二次試験に三回失敗後、合格に至った中で感じたことについても、いつの日か書いて、どなたかの役に立てば幸いです。（2019年中に書く予定が放置中）
One day, I hope to write about what I felt and learned during that process of failing three times before finally passing. I’d be happy if it could help someone else.

一級合格後も日々の学習をさぼったら、頻出でない英単語からどんどん忘れていくことも実感していますので、生涯ひたむきな学習者であらねばと怠け心と奮闘中です。
I’m also keenly aware that even after passing, if I slack off on daily study, I immediately start forgetting the less-common vocabulary. So, I’m in a constant battle with my own lazy heart, trying to remain a dedicated, lifelong learner.
